Once uzume and eve get off the ground, I’ll focus on my rails and japanese. Have to take one thing at a time since most of it is going to be school/work/gf =P. Oh yeah, just got a new job. Yeah, yeah, it’s McD, laugh away =P. All I could find atm, and it’s something.

Well, off to get my lawrence-cut. Yes, color included =].

Well, just registered for classes at SRJC. Apparently all the classes worth anything fill up during priority registration, or in other words, I get stuck with the crap . Oh well. I did sign up for 14.5 units, though; I guess mainly ’cause I didn’t want to be travelling two hours up there for just one class, so…I’m gonna try to actually finish some classes this semester, hah. (if anyone is curious- http://bit.ly/7c1kSh)

Um…what else. SaikoNet is kind of delayed, I can’t get the subs to encode right =/. Eve is kind of, boring atm, lol. Won’t have time next semester anyway, I don’t think. If I do have any time apart from classes/work, I’ve decided on Rails and Haskell to be the programming languages I’m gonna take a look at. Kind of similar to that, I also really want to be motivated enough to learn what’s needed to participate with arch more..like, bug tracker, ML, misc. contributions-wise. I guess I just wanna feel useful, but..not motivated enough. Yeah, I know, weird. Anyways, I still need to continue with my Japanese, too..I haven’t studied, like, at all for the past couple months ~_~. Oh, and yes, my keyboard has been sold =(. Will have to wait on that until I get some stable income again. Oh yeah! I did get that money back from COM; not in time for Christmas, which was one of the main reasons, but at least I’ll have it. Hopefully it’ll be enough until I find my next job =P.

Wow…ok so it’s been awhile =P. I guess my personal life got a bit busy and I started spending a lot less time with my computer-related activities. Anyways, I have to sell my macbook soon, and will probably be switching to a netbook (HP Mini 311.) This pretty much ends my eve playing, and I will try to get back to being more involved with the arch community. I will also definitely start working on SaikoNet again, and will probably think of some other neat ideas that can utilize my server. I want to actually make a set of goals and complete them for once >.>. I think I’m gonna try to aim for actually practicing my keyboard regularly, maybe finally bothering to study Japanese, and possibly some web design/programming. I think I need to start having some…accomplishments behind me, or I’ll start feeling like I’m not doing anything with myself. I just think I must seem pretty lazy when not fulfilling my obligations to the community/friends. Well, I’ll let you all know how it goes xD.

So…I’ve decided to start an anime streaming site, more oriented towards fansub groups. I initially thought of the idea when I realized I was already hosting all these xdcc bots for groups, and it wouldn’t be that hard to turn them into a streaming site oriented towards fansubbers and quality, rather than just max availability, with ads all over the place, and media that’s from all over the web. I’ve given it the name SaikoNet(.org) mainly because I already owned the domain, and didn’t think I’d think of something better anytime soon, even though it was originally designed for my IRC network. I’m still in the process of the design work, so I’ll have the ability to change it if I do happen to think of a better name within that time.

Well…I happened to come across an interesting thread on the animesuki forums. Basically, it’s a listing of fansub groups that are looking for help. I guess I’ve never really considered looking for groups to join, maybe because I viewed it as a translator-only thing, or I didn’t realize there were so many actively looking for help from…anyone, really. Anyways, I definitely got a better understanding of what’s involved in the process of fansubbing (this is actually a really nice article written on it), and now I can’t wait to help out as much as I can =P. I have no experience with most of the stuff, but I’m confident I can learn to do the typesetting/karaoke/encoding stuff with time. Luckily, there were also a couple groups looking for server space, and when I offered it seemed like it was really needed. Ah…this may sound korny, but I was actually really happy =). I feel like I can really help out the community now.

Bit of a disappointment after I learned there were, like, no songs I knew in their selection, but luckily the twenty other people there made up for that =P. Anyways, it was great fun. I want to get a home karaoke system, so we can host at someone’s house, which would be a much better setting, we can put in our own songs, and not have to sneak the sake in! hahaha. Speaking of sake, I’m kind of wondering if seven shots is supposed to be a lot. Someone made that comment, and that’s how much I had for the first time last night, but for all intensive purposes, I could’ve been drinking water. Seriously, I really didn’t notice…anything. Guess I must have a pretty high tolerance limit or something. Good to know =P.

*phew* … Just got back from our first #fanime meetup. We walked all over SF, haha. Definitely tired by the time we got to dinner. To be honest, I didn’t really expect much, if anything, when I initially created the channel, but here we are, a month later, having a great time ^_^. It just kind of dawned on me, how many new friends, hobbies, and interests I gained since going to Fanime. I’ve met sooo many cool people, and have interests in learning new languages / culture, sewing, cooking, etc, and, well, I’m just really glad I went =D. In the two months since then, I’ve joined multiple communities, setup meets, send out newsletters, and just generally help out setting all this up, and all I can think about is how to help out more. Can’t wait for this Saturday! =P
